The average cost per mile for maintenance cost is based on the AAA "Your Driving Costs 2007." Apparent costs of driving each day are gas costs, parking fees, and tolls. Owning and operating your own car has hidden costs as well.

According to the American Automobile Association, it costs an average of 52.2 cents per mile to drive a car: this includes oil, routine maintenance and repair, insurance, licensing, registration, taxes, tires, and depreciation.
